Our History

Founded in 2010, we have now established ourselves as one of the leading players in such a short space of time and have recently been awarded the Develop Dealer of the Decade. 

Dealer of the decade means we are the largest supplier of Develop Photocopiers within the UK, we strengthened our alliance partnerships with the leading manufacturers within the photocopying industry.

Starting out in a small office in Sunderland, we moved to a new state of art Head Office in Newcastle and continued to expand opening further offices in Billingham and Rotherham.

At Document Solutions, we also offer Telecoms and IT Support as an all-round office management solution practice to tailor your digital business needs.

Directors

David Macartney
Managing Director
With over 25 years’ experience in the Photocopying industry, David brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Document Solutions Leadership team.

Starting out as a professional footballer, David was on the books of Alloa from 18 years of age with a very short loan spell at Southampton then Airdrie and a few semi-professional teams in his native Scotland.

Injury cut short David’s playing career however; footballs loss was the Photocopying industries gain as David excelled in this area and was promoted to a Regional Director at Konica at only 28 years old being the youngest Director in Konica’s History.

When Konica and Minolta merged David was then promoted to UK Head of Sales.
After 14 very successful years of industry experience at the top level in management within Konica and Konica Minolta, starting Document Solutions UK Ltd was the next step in David’s career and in his words the best move.

Lee Allinson
Director
With nearly 20 years’ experience within the Photocopying industry, Lee brings a fantastic set of skills for business development and account management to the Document Solutions Leadership team.

Primarily looking after Education, Lee has been instrumental in Document Solutions winning tenders in the Education sector.

Lee’s main skill is bridging digital integrated business services into the human office and how important technology is to driving business productivity.

Lee has an acute knowledge of Print Management Software and Document Capture & Management.
He is also responsible for overseeing our Service Team, a key responsibility in Document Solutions as we put our customers at the forefront.

Mark Friberg
Director
With nearly 20 years in the industry, Mark is a fantastic Business Development Director at Document Solutions.

With a background before Photocopiers of Fast Food Management, Mark took to photocopying industry like the proverbial duck to water.

Mark’s sales results speak for themselves as he constantly delivers over target for the group.
His ability in building rapport, creating the solution on any client problem is a massive asset to this organisation.

Scott Waterhouse
Director
With 19 years’ experience in the Photocopier industry at Konica and Konica Minolta, Scott decided to take the next step in his career and come to Document Solutions to head up our East branch.

Leaving university with a BA in Business and Finance, making the move into the Photocopier industry may have seemed a strange move at the time however; Scott is a fantastic Sales and Account Manager.

With a wealth of experience in the Corporate and Education sectors, Scott has brought his focus on workflow management and efficiency into Document Solutions and with an acute knowledge of Software Solutions, he’s not just a credit to our business, but to yours also.

Andy Bolton
Service Director
Andy is our Service Director who has nearly 25 years’ experience within the reprographics industry.

Starting out by being taken on at his high school after 6th form as a Reprographics Technician, he was then headhunted by another high school, one of the largest in the UK, to be their Reprographics Technician due to his knowledge and skill.

Following that, he was then headhunted again by the company who supplied the Photocopiers into that school where he stayed for 18 years, working his way up to Service Manager.

After that company was taken over, Andy was looking for a new challenge and came to Document Solutions in January 2016 and has transformed how our service department works.

Andy has increased out First Time Fix Rate and reduced our Average Response times as he’s very data driven and analytical and he’s always looking at trends and ways to increase performance and reduce any customer downtime.

His key skills are Production Print, Print Management and Software solutions however; Andy really comes into his own when bespoke solutions are required, Andy always ‘finds a way.’
